Minutes from the previous meeting and vouchers were approved.
Under Old Business: There was a discussion about budget and staff wages. The BOE didn't participate in a previous wage study and is trying to access the revisions in the pay formula from the county through a public records request. They want to ensure that their staff's wages remain competitive.
The BOE will pursue obtaining a procurement card from the Commissioners. This new offering would be beneficial, provided all requirements for possession of the P-Card are met.
All BOEs have been requested to submit a new Election Administration Plan template. Faith Lyons is preparing this and will send it to board members for review and comment as soon as it is completed. It is due to the SOS by July 8.
There will be several polling location changes for the November election. The county will have 50 locations, down from 53.
(1) Windham Junior High will be vacated, and all of Windham will vote at the Renaissance Family Center.
(2) In Streetsboro City, two precincts (1A, 3A) will move to the Camelot Village Community Center.
(3) Five precincts in Ravenna City and Ravenna Township will move to Independence of Portage County on Lake Street in Ravenna. (Ravenna Two E, Ravenna City 3A, 3B, 3C, 4A).
(4)The Church of the Nazarene polling site on Brady Lake Rd will move to New Testament Baptist Church. Willard School and the Ravenna VFW will no longer be polling sites.
Just before adjournment, a guest in the audience expressed concern that since the last election was stolen, he wanted assurances that the upcoming election would be secure and accurate. Board members clearly explained how our system is safe and secure, that all of Ohio is a model for voting integrity, and that the guest was invited to attend testing and accuracy sessions held by BOE.
