Meeting Summary:

The purpose of the meeting was to approve a post-election audit.  While post-election audits of primary elections are not required, the board, several years ago, voted to do so.  Guidelines provided by the Secretary of State are followed (e.g., a random drawing of precincts, 5% of the voters in those precincts).  The three contested races were proposed for audit: Kent Ward 1, Kent Ward 6, and Portage County's portion of the overlap with Summit County for the Tallmadge mayor's race.  The precincts to be audited were randomly drawn, and the board allowed the staff to proceed with the audit.
