Police:

  • July 10 set up a community grilling event at Chapman’s farm.
  • A grant from Attorney General’s office 1200 for school safety assessment was received.
  • Added Executive session to agenda

Fire:

  • Bid meeting for fire station. After review, they will be called in for interviews
  • Firefighter candidates assessment today
  • Fire response fees for businesses for false alarms dropped. Needs to be a significant fee in order for them to take it seriously. Rootstown has a resolution now 3 calls per year then a fee will be charged for false alarms. Streetsboro is 6 calls a year
  • Police a lot of residential home alarms the same issues
  • Check with legal counsel regarding bed tax to pay for the issues.
  • Exploring a dispatch center with a fire dispatcher. Currently using Kent state dispatch which is monitored by part-time police officers.
  • Meijer will pay for fireworks for Brimfest
  • Sugar Maple Phase II complaints of dust dirt from construction. Inspection firm notified.
  • Letters for the demolition of buildings will be sent soon.


Road department:

  • Bids for Howe road project culvert approved
  • Use postcard notification to residents.
  • Discussion on number of new homes and Redwood apartment population increase by 1k.

Parks and Recreation:

  • Reviewing Brimfield community dates for concerts and food trucks July 29 and August 12. Concerts at Lions Park. Lawn chair concerts Thursday nights Home Savings
  • Part-time employee interviews
  • Night hike July 15, July 24 Yoga.
  • Field youth soccer rentals - Kelso Drive U14 takes up the whole property
  • Can fit 2 U9 fields which has more options.
  • Proposal for U14 field on Edson.
  • Discussion of $150 for seasonal rental on Kelso Drive. Brimfield has precedence for use.
  • Trees at community center estimated $18,500 to cut 50 trees that are diseased or dead
  • With stump grinding and additional trees $27,500.
  • Motion to table to review additional costs and other quotes.

  • Motion to move to executive session to discuss the employment of a public employee. Motion approved
  • Out of executive session motion to extend an offer of part-time employment with the police department
