Meeting Summary:

Public Comment:
A representative of the Portage County Sheriff’s Office reported that in the last month retail theft reports are up; there were 23 traffic stops requiring back-up; 12 domestic violence calls were responded to.


A Lake Brady area resident reported that a house with long-standing code violations is being demolished and that there was a house fire on Park Avenue to which the Kent City Fire’s response was quick and effective.


Fire, Road, and Zoning Reports:
Purchases likely for a new Tera Star truck and for a utility truck that can also plow. The recently repaired spillway area on Merrill Rd has eroded to the point that the pipe is now covered; discussion followed about how to best repair the damage and prevent further erosion.

The zoning inspector reported that Davey Tree is purchasing the parcel of land on Powdermill which is north of the railroad tracks. Also, a potential buyer for Grace Baptist Church on Rhodes Rd. has expressed an interest in building senior assisted living units on that site. Also, the County Board of Developmental Disabilities is interested in a partnership with the township for the use of Brady Lake Park for a Special Olympics event.

Old Business:
Because the recently rebuilt chimney at town hall is unfinished, new contractors will be needed to complete the job.

New Business:
Action item-a motion to move forward with window washing was approved by all three trustees.

Finances:
The final draft of the 2022 budget will be voted on at a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on June 22,
