Format: In-person

Meeting Summary:

PUBLIC COMMENT

Jill Grimm, representing the Twin Lakes Association, had questions related to the new siren at Phillips Park. The trustees assured her that Mr. Smith and the Kent Fire Department are aware of inconsistencies with regards to the sirens and are working to see that they are aligned and working at full capacity.

Detective DeSerio presented a summary of the 249 calls for service in the township in June.

These include, but are not limited to, alarm drops, accidents, animal complaints, assists to the rescue squad and other agencies, larceny, traffic stops and welfare checks. He also reported that there is a new scheduling system in place at the department and that extra patrol signups have been negatively affected by summer vacations and increased pay for other extra patrols. He anticipates that this will return to normal by September.

ROAD AND ZONING REPORTS

Mr. Akerley reported that trail cameras have been purchased for installation at all three parks; there will be signage posted about the area being recorded. The files will upload to the cloud and will be accessible to his phone.

There was some discussion about a variance application for a development application proposal in the Brady Lake area of the township that will increase the number of homes on the site from 75 to 92. This will be taken up by the BZA hearing on July 14.

OLD BUSINESS

The Sixth Avenue water issue is under advisement about how best to proceed. Mr. Akerley asked if it would be in our interest to call in an engineering firm; Mr. Swan suggested reaching out to the Tinker Creek Watershed Partnership for a consultation.

Installation of the AED’s at Phillips Park will soon be done. There was a discussion of the need to have electricity in each park so the units do not freeze in winter.

Mrs. Kapusta presented a quote of $15,550 from Titan Electric for putting electricity in at the parks. All three trustees voted to accept the bid.

The next Employee Handbook update meeting will be September 16, 2025 at town hall.

NEW BUSINESS

The four bids for the upcoming Hudson Road project were discussed and voted on. The county engineer’s office recommended accepting the lowest bid received, $347,261.50 from Perrin Asphalt. All three trustees voted to approve this bid.
