On Primary Election Day, Fair Districts PA volunteers from across the state again donned their FDPA apparel and invited voters to sign a petition in support of an Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) to draw our congressional and state legislative maps. For the first time in over a decade, LWV Abington, Cheltenham, and Jenkintown Area is conducting voter registration at local high schools! So far, LWV ACJ has registered 50 students who will be 18 by this November. Thanks so much to the League for their amazing work!

At the May 2 Zoom forum, Mapping Pennsylvania’s Future, Senator Kearney announced Senate Bill 1076, a companion bill to House Bill 1776. The co-sponsor memo is now circulating. The bill will be introduced soon. Click here to read more. HB 1776 and SB 1076 are critical bills which would codify an Independent Redistricting Commission into law for future redistricting cycles. We urge you to contact your legislators in support of these bills!

On May 8th, almost 40 League members from 13 Leagues gathered at the Pennsylvania State Capitol for our 2024 Lobby Day. League members met with 20 different PA legislators to discuss important issues that affect Pennsylvanians. We at LWVPA were thrilled to see such an impressive show of power!
