The League of Women Voters believes that transparency in the redistricting process and opportunities for public engagement are essential to the creation of the fair maps for our cities, counties, and state that we deserve. Before the end of 2021, most of these decisions will be completed. Will they be made behind closed doors? Or will there be open to the public?
Jesse Fox Mayshark, a reporter for Compass in Knoxville, will share his views about this from a journalist’s perspective. He will talk about best practices for an open, public process — and whether Tennessee’s state and local leaders are following them in 2021.
