“ Health Care Reform: The solution to more problems than you think ” is the topic of Dr. William Culbert's noon talk Tuesday, Jan. 6th, at the Lunch with the League meeting of the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge.
Did you ever want to know why the U.S. pays so much more for health care but scores poorly on international scores for a healthy populace? The US spends significantly more on healthcare per capita than any other rich nation while ranking near the bottom in overall performance. Much of the money is wasted and directed toward special interests that provide little added value for patients. There are much better models with immense downstream effects for the economy and personal wellbeing.
Dr. William Culbert has a B.S. in environmental engineering with honors from the University of TN and worked in dam analysis for TVA and the state of TN. He is a doctor of chiropractic magna cum laude from Life University in Marietta, GA and practiced for five years. He obtained his medical degree from Quillen College of Medicine at East TN State University and did his residency at Cox Health Systems in Springfield, MO. He is a Board Certified Family Physician and was in group practice with Covenant Health Systems for 23 years. He is now retired.
The public is invited to attend the lunch and lecture between 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike. All are welcome to bring their lunch or purchase a boxed lunch. Coffee and tea will be served. The presentation will begin at noon and end with questions and answers.
