On Tuesday, February 21 the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge will host Brandon Prins, Ph.D. to discuss domestic terrorism in the United States and other democratic countries.

Our Lunch with the League event (available in person and virtually via Zoom), will be held at 12:00 PM EST at the Unitarian Universalist Church Social Hall in Oak Ridge.

A lunch from The Soup Kitchen will be available for purchase or bring your own lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided.

Brandon Prins is Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Political Science at the University of Tennessee.

Before coming to UT, Professor Prins taught at the University of New Orleans and Texas Tech University.  His research focuses on the relationship between domestic politics, international relations, and militarized conflict.  His articles have appeared in International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research, International Interactions, Congress and the Presidency, Presidential Studies Quarterly, and the International Journal of Peace Studies. In 2013 he won a major grant from the Department of Defense to study maritime piracy.

He received a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in History - both at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science at Michigan State University.

He is the author of the book Pirate Lands: Governance and Maritime Policy with Ursula Daxecker; numerous peer-reviewed articles, edited volumes, book reviews, policy writing and commentary.
