Property Re-Appraisal or How can a Restaurant on Main Street Remain Vacant for 20 Years

Did you ever want to know why that vacant down-town hi-rise building with broken windows is not being utilized or torn down? Or why a vacant local restaurant on a Main Street, that has been a blight for years, is not being re-purposed? Well we have the answer for you - the methodology of tax appraisal and how it works (or maybe not). The purpose of property tax reappraisal is often misunderstood and how the “System” works. Unfortunately the appraisals can impact growth and stop developers from activating property. This presentation will provide an overview of the impacts of this process and how it is controlled by state appeal processes, procedures, local budgets and how it affects Main Street. Hope to see you at LWL!
