The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge welcomes the community to hear Oak Ridge Chief of Police Robin Smith at its regular Lunch with the League at Noon, Tuesday, January 19. Meeting virtually due to the pandemic, the gathering may be accessed by following instructions provided at the close of this article.

Chief Smith has served with the Oak Ridge Police Department (ORPD) since 2012. He served as a Lieutenant for two years before being promoted to Captain and then Deputy Chief. He was appointed ORPD Chief in October 2018.

Prior to beginning his career in Oak Ridge, Chief Smith served 17 years with the Tennessee Valley Authority Police, the last 14 years as Commander of Police Operations.  Smith is a 1982 graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, and a 1990 graduate of the FBI National Academy. He has a bachelor’s degree in applied organizational management from Tusculum College, and a master’s degree from Bethel University.
