With democracy under pressure, the LWVC is working tirelessly to protect voting rights in California. Learn how we’re fighting voter suppression, sponsoring key legislation, and empowering voters like you. Plus, don’t miss upcoming events!

Update on Advocacy

Alongside Leagues nationwide, we’re actively addressing harmful federal policies through education, boycotts, and protests. The LWVC remains deeply committed to protecting democracy in California.

When legislation surfaces that could suppress the vote—like restrictive voter ID laws—we’re on alert, ready to defend fair access to the polls for every Californian. And, of course, we are at the forefront of crafting good legislation on matters like primary election reform and campaign financing that reflects our commitment to an open and equitable democracy.

And it’s not just voting rights. It’s early in the year, but we are hard at work analyzing bills and starting to take positions on bills related to immigration, reproductive rights, climate change, criminal justice, and more.

You can count on the LWVC to keep pushing forward. We’re committed to empowering voters and safeguarding democracy—now and for the future.
