Natural Resources: Parks and Greenways

The League of Women Voters of Butte County believes that community parks and greenways improve the quality of the community as a whole.
Position In Brief:
1. Procedures for raising and allocating park funds for purchase, improvements, and
maintenance should be developed considering all known sources such as grants, development
fees, bond monies, and local sponsors.

2. Creekside properties should be acquired for public and environmental benefit as
they become available.

3. Creekside greenways should be preserved in their natural state as much as possible,
with provisions made for public access, when appropriate.

4. Consideration should be given to using native vegetation. The design for each
park should reflect the uniqueness of the area.
Public input regarding the development, improvement, and financing of all parks and
greenways should be widely solicited.
