In the West another hot summer is coming. There will be wildfires with resulting air pollution. Our reservoirs are low. Across the country there are heat waves, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Around the world sea levels are rising.
The League of Women Voters believes that natural resources should be managed as interrelated parts of life-supporting ecosystems. As citizens of the world we must protect our planet from the physical, economic and public health effects of climate change while also providing pathways to economic prosperity.
Support local and regional water and land use policies and decisions which adequately protect resources such as undisturbed wetlands, estuaries, unique scenic areas, undisturbed riparian habitat, native species preservation, water quality, and water quantity.
The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) will soon be reviewing proposals for the Lee Property. There are upcoming meetings discussing this property and LWVAC encourages everyone to attend any and all of the meetings.
