  • The League had a wonderful show of support for the events at the Rose Parade. There were many who showed up to help decorate the float, and we had League members both riding on the float and walking to represent the suffragists. At the post-parade float viewing site, Martha and Peter Zavala did a tremendous job of organizing, setting up, and working the voter registration table. Martha received a bouquet of “golden” roses from Pat as a thank you.
  • The February Voter will be a digital e-Voter.
  • Candidate forums are being organized. Martha Zavala, Director of Voter Services, needs more volunteers.
  • The February Centennial Celebration, our Day of Action, is planned for February 14, beginning at 11:30 a.m., following February League Day, 9:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church.
  • The Pasadena City Council will issue a proclamation honoring the Centennial at their February 10 meeting, 6:00 p.m.
  • Our relationship with the Women’s City Club is being discussed with their board.
  • The Development Committee reported that the February 15 Gala plans are on track. Formal invitations are being sent to a wide array of members and friends.
  • Plans are under way for the Natural Resources Committee’s Annual Climate Change Forum in March. The Board voted to accept several co-sponsors for the event.
  • LWV will be among the co-sponsors of the Earth Day celebration in Grand Park.
  • The Board approved endorsing the Pasadena Tenant Justice Coalition’s petition to amend the Pasadena City Charter.
  • Unfortunately, Units Director Gwen Jones has resigned from the Board and will be on an extended leave of absence from League activities due to medical issues.
