Preparing for the June 7 Primary Election

Preparing for the June 7 Primary Election

Type:
News

Several state and local contests are on the ballot in June. As you know, this will be the first election held using the new district lines and many voters will find that their precinct has changed and possibly a new slate of candidates will appear on their ballots. It is important for voters to familiarize themselves with the new boundaries and district numbers.

Members of the Voter Services Committee are planning a Spring Voter Registration & Preregistration Drive for the weeks of April 18 and April 25 at the schools and colleges in our service area. Outreach to principals, social science teachers, and student advisers is under way. Two voter registration drives at East LA College are already behind us, and three high school events are confirmed as of this date.

This year’s effort to engage parents will start at Pasadena Unified School District with programs designed to advance students’ civic engagement activities. The programs will focus on identifying students willing to launch voter registration drives at school, supported by the League, faculty, and parents.

For our part, LWV-PA’s Voter Services Committee is working on identifying volunteers, offering training, and updating voter registration and get-out-the-vote materials. Voter registration training sessions will be held via Zoom on:

  • Monday, April 4, at 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 5, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m.

Please see several other election-related announcements about volunteering and training in this issue of the Voter.
