Greetings, fellow members and friends of the League!

I am happy to announce that this month we have two exciting events to educate voters and residents. First, Voter Services will sponsor Thursday with the League. The program will be dedicated to reviewing the results of the redistricting efforts that culminated in redrawing the lines of our districts earlier this year. A representative from Common Cause will explain the impact on future elections for the next ten years. Second, we will host a League @ Nite on April 21 to hear how municipal utilities can carve a path toward 100 percent renewable energy to stop greenhouse gas emissions and thereby help to safeguard our environment. We have three knowledgeable and dedicated officials ready to talk about their work and answer your questions. Please register for these events today.

It’s Spring 2022, and that means it’s time to celebrate California democracy by launching our get out the vote campaign for the June 7 Primary Election!

In this issue of the Voter, you will find many opportunities to volunteer. The Voter Services Committee plans several programs designed to get out the vote: website postings, one-click online voter toolkit, voter registration drives and civic presentations at colleges and high schools, election resources handouts, a voter hotline, and a postcard campaign. Read the articles and find out how you can get involved.

There are many reasons to celebrate in April. Among my favorites are National Burrito Day, National Beer Day, No Housework Day, Wear Pajamas to Work Day, and Husband Appreciation Day—celebrate them all at once! I especially enjoy National Humor Month. Don’t forget to observe the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network’s Day of Silence, as well as Earth Day on April 22. And you can help celebrate National Volunteer Month by signing up to get out the vote while I observe National Month of Hope by hoping you will all volunteer!
