Immigration Committee

LWV Pasadena Area members interested in learning more about immigration and advocacy options for immigration reform are encouraged to join the LWVC Immigration Interest Group.  League members from across California meet regularly via Zoom to hear from speakers representing organizations active in border issues and immigration reform, to discuss and evaluate current relevant state legislation and executive actions, and to share developments in their localities. The LWVUS Immigration  Interest Group does the same at the national level and communicates directly with LWVUS to obtain National League statements and actions for humane effective immigration policies.  Both groups are Google Groups where members post relevant and timely articles, documents, and discussions.  If you wish to learn more or consider joining these groups,  contact Katherine  Gavzy, at katherinegavzy [at] lwv-pa.org.

Issues:
Immigration policies should promote reunification of immediate families; meet economic, business and employment needs; and be responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian crises.
