Thursday, September 6, 2018 - 8:00am to 11:15am

We will begin our 2018-2019 League Year with a call to action! A panel of three people who are active in the community and who are convinced that people MUST be persuaded to vote in this election will encourage us to be involved and Get Out The Vote!

Our panel will be:

  • Michael Lawson, the President and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League, which is focused on empowering minority communities.
  • Giovany Hernandez, civic engagement specialist with the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, which provides leadership on key issues affecting Latino Participation in the political process.
  • Hilda Coleman, a student at PCC, co-founder of the Rise to Reunite movement in Pasadena, and active member of the United Without Boundaries club at Pasadena City College.

Their presentations will be followed by table discussion of what we as League members can do to encourage registered voters to actually vote.

We will also have a short business meeting.

Registration will begin at 8:00. Panel presentations will be at 9:00.
