Location
Thursday with the League Refuge 101
The International Rescue Committee (IRC), founded by Albert Einstein in 1933, works in over forty countries throughout the world, serving people whose lives have been shattered by war, conflict, and natural disasters, including the climate crisis. In the United States, the IRC helps refugees and displaced families to survive, recover, and gain control over their futures.
Carly Boos, Community Relations Manager from the IRC-Los Angeles, will be presenting “Refuge 101” at the March 3 Thursday with the League. The IRC helps refugees, asylum seekers, victims of human trafficking, torture survivors, and other immigrants rebuild their lives by working with governmental bodies, civil society activists, and local volunteers to help them translate their past experiences into assets of value to their new communities. Boos has worked at the IRC for three years and prior to that was Project Coordinator at the Program for Torture Victims. Attendees will learn what the IRC does, who the refugees are, why they are arriving in Los Angeles, their immediate needs, and how we can help.
Please plan to attend this timely and important event.
