Your November 3 ballot asks you to weigh in on some diverse topics. Feeling confused, befuddled, perplexed, flummoxed, nonplussed, stupefied? Never fear—the League is here!
At our October 8 Thursday with the League, our talented team of Pro & Con presenters will be providing unbiased information about each of the twelve state measures and L.A. County Measure J. You’ll hear background information, what’s being proposed, what it could cost, arguments for and against, and, perhaps most important, who’s paying for all those ads you’ve been seeing on TV.
And, by the way, after reading the Voter Information Guide you may be asking yourself, “Haven’t we already voted on this?” You’re not wrong. This year’s kidney dialysis measure is a reboot of a proposition that failed in 2018. We voted on stem cell research in 2004. In 1996, Proposition 209 passed, prohibiting state governmental institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity in the areas of public employment, public contracting, and public education. The issue is back again this year in Proposition 16. We voted on rent control in 2018. And, of course, there are the myriad amendments to Proposition 13 that have passed since 1978. Two more are proposed this year. Everything old is new again!
We’re certain that, after listening to the Pro & Con presentations, you’ll feel much more confident about making your choices on November 3. Please register to join us online on October 8
