It is time for advocacy with the LWV Virginia's 2023 Women's Legislative Roundtables.

These are hybrid - virtual and in person and free.

LEAGUE DAY IS JANUARY 25 - different sign up  SEE LWV-VA LEAGUE DAY

  

As in past years, the Virginia League of Women Voters will be holding weekly "Women's Legislative Roundtables" throughout the Virginia Legislative Session in order to keep members up to date on developments before the State General Assembly and to promote League priorities. (The LWV-VA legislative priorities are listed on their website: 2023 Legislative Priorities.)

The Roundtables take place each Wednesday morning between 8:30 and 9:30 am. You may attend either remotely via Zoom, or in-person in Richmond. Each roundtable will focus on a different legislative topic. Here are the topics:

January 11
  • Remove witness requirement for absentee ballot envelopes
  • Funding of elections (including amending or repealing Zucker Buck bills passed in 2022 session: SB80 and HB205)
January 18, 2023
  • Push for campaign finance reform
  • Support for Ranked Choice Voting
February 1, 2023
  • Support funding of public education and not diverting funds to private education
  • Protecting the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
February 8, 2023
  • Support right to marry amendment
  • Gun Violence Prevention (ghost guns, secure storage, GVP Center)
