Our Positions

Positions are arrived at through member study, consensus or concurrence. The member Leagues of LWVNCA can use LWVNCA and LWVUS positions (see below) within their jurisdiction to advocate in their area.

LWVNCA Positions

The LWVNCA has positions on airports, regional governance, transportation, water, substance abuse and others.  All the LWVNCA positions were reviewed in 2016 for language and consistency.  Positions are re-adopted every two years.

LWVMD, LWV-VA, LWVUS Positions:

What is a Position?

The League of Women Voters takes action on an issue only when we have a position addressing that particular issue. Members must study and come to consensus on an issue, in order to form a position. This thorough grassroots process ensures that our advocacy is well considered by a broad range of people, understood by our members, and we have a sense of the political environment.
