On Wednesday, November  17, 10AM, in Lafayette Park,  LWVUS  will once again take action to demand that President Biden protect the freedom of millions of Americans. Join us and civil and voting rights activists, religious leaders, and League members to make our voices heard..  We are demanding that President Biden take action on voting rights and support statehood for D.C. .

LWVNCA is organizing a contingent of League members from the Metropolitan area to participate in the November 17 rally to gather at Lafayette Park beginning at 9:30 amIf you would like to join us, please email LWVNCA Co-President Joyce Starks, joycestarks [at] aol.com.  Participants should also register with LWVUS to attend:  Rally Registration Form . See note below from LWVDC about using their office as a "pit stop."

Why Attend:   LWVUS is organizing this rally because states across the country have introduced hundreds of bills that raise deliberate barriers to the ability to cast ballots freely, safely, and equally. This will impact millions of Americans, and particularly people of color, women, people with disabilities, and young people. LWVUS is demanding that President Biden use the influence of his office to get the Freedom to Vote Act passed in the Senate. To learn more and to watch videos of prior rallies for voting rights go to:  No More Excuses Info.  For additional photos from prior rallies: Photos

Civil Disobedience:  Some participants at the rally will be engaging in civil disobedience and risking arrest to demonstrate their commitment to this cause and to draw attention to their demands.  If you are interested in engaging in civil disobedience, please indicate this when completing the LWVUS registration form (see link above).  For questions about civil disobedience plans, you may email Alicia Gurrieri, agurrieri [at] lwv.org.   You do not need to take part in the civil disobedience activity to participate in the rally.  You may attend the rally and express your support for voting rights without taking any risk of arrest.
