The LWV of Hawai'i County is pleased to be a part of the 2021 Hawai`i History Day for the Hawai`i Island District as a way to engage with Hawai`i Island youth and schools. For the second year, LWVHC is sponsoring an award of $150 for an outstanding project that demonstrates civic engagement, advocacy, voter education on strengthening democracy and transparency in government.

Hawai‘i History Day, a program of the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities, is a year-long history education program that invigorates the teaching and learning of history in grades 4-12. It promotes a theme-based, research-centered model for history and civics education. Students present their projects in an exhibit, performance, documentary, paper or website project. History Day culminates in the presentation and evaluation of these projects at school, district, state and national history days. Hawai`i Island District projects are due by Feb. 13th, and results will be announced on March 12th. The Virtual State Fair will be held on April 24th. Student projects will be shared online at a future date.

This year's theme is Communication in History: The Key to Understanding. [Flyer]
