Various groups, including the League of Women Voters, Alu Like and representatives of various political parties and community organizations will be on hand Saturday to observe a statewide test of the state’s ballot- counting computer program.
State election officials said the plan is to conduct a “blind” test of the program to ensure its accuracy and integrity. The counting center for the Big Island will be located at the county’s Waiakea Recreation Center located on the corner of Kamehameha Avenue and Kalanikoa Street. The Big Island test will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Others scheduled to observe the test statewide include civic organizations, the Data Processing Management Association and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
Big Island History is compiled by Brandon Haleamau for the Hawaii Tribune-Herald using newspaper archives. Whenever possible, the news accounts were taken verbatim from the newspaper.
