The program is: "The Long Reach of the Dobbs Decision." It will feature speakers Rianne Hawkins and Donna Griffin-Lego on October 1st at 6:30 at Santori Library. Rianne Hawkins will speak about the impact of the Dobbs decision in Illinois and the impact on the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Aurora.
Rianne Hawkins is the Senior Director of Public Policy and Advocacy for Planned Parenthood of Illinois and Planned Parenthood Illinois Action. She plans and coordinates efforts to motivate, educate, activate, and build support for Planned Parenthood and partner initiatives.
Since joining Planned Parenthood in 2016, Rianne has been involved with the efforts to pass several reproductive health care initiatives, including the passage of the Reproductive Health Act, the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, and the Keeping Youth Safe and Health Act. All of these pieces of legislation were done in coalition with several grassroots groups throughout the state.
She also has worked to direct all of Planned Parenthood Illinois Action’s political work. This included leading voter registration efforts and getting out-the-vote efforts in the 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022 cycles. She also collaborates with other progressive groups statewide to support and elect progressive champions through several progressive coalitions throughout the
State.
Before joining Planned Parenthood Illinois Action, Rianne had a long career in government and Illinois state politics. She served as the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Springfield, even running unsuccessfully for that office twice. Before that, she worked on several political campaigns at different levels of government all around the state of Illinois and even in Tennessee.
