A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO UNDERSTAND
ABOUT THE TERM LIMITS BALLOT QUESTION
-
This referendum applies only to the City of Highland Park’s Mayor and City Council. It does not affect federal, state, county, or other Highland Park elections.
-
If enacted, the 8‑year limit (or up to 10 years if beginning with a partial term) would apply only to service starting with terms that begin after the April 2027 election. Years served before April 2027 do not count. The limit would first take effect for terms beginning in 2035.
-
Higher voter turnout in local (Spring/Consolidated) elections can create natural term limits. When more residents participate, election outcomes more accurately reflect community priorities and allow voters to choose the candidates they believe are best suited to serve.

Remembering Joyce O'Keefe
This photo is how so many of our League members and HP residents remember Joyce.
Joyce was a former LWV Highland Park President, LWVIL Vice President and an amazingly productive member of many other civic organizations.
Our condolences to Joyce's family. Here is a link to the obituary of this remarkable woman.
Rest in Peace, Joyce.
