League of Women Voters cancels Sept. 20 candidate event
Event canceled after Illinois Senate candidate becomes unavailable

ROSELLE, Ill. (Sept. 15, 2026) — The League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale Area has canceled its Sept. 20 candidate event for the Illinois Senate District 24 and Illinois House District 48 races.

The event was canceled after Illinois Senate District 24 candidate Seth Lewis notified the League on Sept. 10 that he is unable to participate because of family commitments out of town.

The League had planned to host a candidate forum featuring Illinois Senate District 24 candidates Seth Lewis and Ben McAdams. Because the League's candidate forum format is designed to provide participating candidates with an equal opportunity to address voters, the Illinois Senate District 24 forum cannot be held without both candidates participating.

The League had also planned to provide Amanda Zahorak, Democratic candidate for Illinois House District 48, with a three-minute introductory statement. Republican candidate Jennifer Sanalitro previously declined the League's invitation to participate.

The League regrets that the event cannot take place and appreciates the candidates and community members who had planned to participate.
