League of Women Voters to host candidate event for contested Illinois Senate District 24 and Illinois House District 48 races
Senate District 24 candidates will participate in forum; House District 48 candidate will give introductory statement Sept. 20 in Roselle
ROSELLE, Ill. (Aug. 27, 2026) — The League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale Area will host a candidate forum for Illinois Senate District 24 on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Roselle Park District, 10 N. Roselle Road, Roselle.
The forum will give voters an opportunity to hear directly from the Senate candidates, learn about their positions on issues affecting their communities and make informed decisions at the polls. The event is free and open to the public.

The League invited all candidates in both contested races to participate. The League's format is designed to provide participating candidates with an equal opportunity to present their views while maintaining the League's nonpartisan role.

How Candidate Forums Work
The League hosts candidate forums for contested races. Trained, nonpartisan League volunteers moderate the events. Each participating candidate receives two minutes for an opening statement. Questions are collected in advance from League members, community members and nonpartisan organizations. Audience members may also submit questions on notecards during the in-person forums.
The moderator asks questions in rotation, providing participating candidates with equal opportunities to respond. Following the question-and-answer period, each participating candidate receives one minute for a closing statement.
When only one candidate participates in a contested race, the League provides that candidate with a three-minute introductory statement. No surrogates are permitted.
The League of Women Voters sponsors candidate forums and candidate meet-and-greets as a service to voters. The League is a nonpartisan organization that does not support or oppose candidates or political parties.
The program will be recorded and posted on lwvrb.org, the League's website, following the event.
