How the forums work
The League hosts forums for contested races only. Trained, nonpartisan volunteers moderate the events. Each candidate receives two minutes for an opening statement. Questions are collected in advance from League members, community members and nonpartisan organizations. Audience members may also submit questions on notecards during the in-person forums. The moderator asks questions in rotation, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates. Following the question-and-answer period, each candidate receives one minute for a closing statement. If only one candidate is present, that candidate will have three minutes for an introductory statement. No surrogates are permitted.

The League of Women Voters sponsors candidate forums as a service to voters. The League is a nonpartisan organization that does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. The program will be recorded and made available for viewing on the League's website following the event.
