The League of Women Voters takes action on an issue or advocates for a cause when there is an existing League position that supports the issue or speaks to the cause.
Positions result from a process of study. Please visit our Studies page to learn more about our study process and our Positions & Issues page to learn more about how we use our study process to develop League positions, as well as how we determine League Program, issues for emphasis.
Our action includes both advocacy and lobbying. We act through advocacy for issues and causes. When legislation has been introduced on an issue, we act through lobbying.
We cannot act/advocate without a League position on an issue.
