Buttigieg, Kostielney to speak Sunday at Women’s Equality Day event

SOUTH BEND — Twelve local women will be honored at 2 p.m. Sunday, Women’s Equality Day, at Indiana University South Bend's Civil Rights Heritage Center, 1040 W. Washington St.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and St. Joseph County Commissioner Andrew Kostielney will speak at the event.

The gathering, which is free and open to the public, will unveil the 2018 Celebrating Michiana Women Leaders exhibit.

The women are being honored for their leadership. Each honoree or a representative will be introduced during a program beginning at 2:15 p.m.

This year’s honorees are Nanci Flores, Diana Hess, Penny Hughes, Jeanne M. Jourdan, Jann Joseph, Julia Nabaa, Kathy Schuth, Blaire Topash-Caldwell, Regina Williams-Preston, the late Maritza Robles, Albertina Wassenhove and Linda Wolfson.

The exhibit is a partnership between the League of Women Voters and the Michiana Women Leaders Project.
