The South Bend Civic Theatre is Creating Community Through the Arts
The League of Women Voters is pleased to welcome Aaron Nichols as the speaker for our upcoming Lunch with the League event on Friday January 11, 2019 at the Chocolate Café in downtown South Bend from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Aaron Nichols is the Executive Director of the South Bend Civic Theater, and an award-winning actor, director, and designer. Nichols will discuss the Civic's updated mission and the organization's recent pivot toward community engagement. He will also detail the Civic's expanded commitment to educational programming, partnerships, and curriculum development.
In 2017, Nichols completed the Executive Program in Arts and Culture Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania. During his 20 months as Executive Director of the South Bend Civic Theatre, he has put those lessons to work taking the 62-year-old institution from the red to the black while doubling its staff and completing two capital projects.
Before joining the Civic in an official capacity, Nichols had been an active volunteer at the theatre for over 15 years. He was previously Shakespeare at Notre Dame’s Audience Development Manager and firmly believes that the arts have a responsibility to enrich and create community.
This event is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to arrive early to purchase lunch before the talk.
