What are Voting Habits and How are They Strengthened?

What are Voting Habits and How are They Strengthened?

Matt Cravens
Tuesday, June 15, 2021 - 12:00pm

Matt Cravens, data analyst for Douglas County, will present his summary of his most recent research "What are Voting Habits and How are They Strengthened?" at the next LWV L/DC Hot Topic series.

Matt Cravens's doctoral thesis at the University of Minnesota was "The Role of Habit in Voting: Making and Breaking Habitual Voters."

As a visiting professor and researcher at the Rockefeller Center at Dartmouth College, he helped manage the Policy Research Shop, a student staffed, faculty mentored opportunity for students to conduct research in public policy.

Matt's interest in voting has continued with research on how voting habits are formed and re-enforced by identifying the psychological underpinnings cued by certain contexts and influenced by our own identity as voters.

The presentation was open to the public via Zoom.
