Why We Need to Fight for the US Postal Service

As of August 2020, amid both a looming presidential election and a global pandemic that has forced many people in the U.S. to consider mail-in voting for the first time, the US Postal Service is under severe threat of federal budget cuts that will make it substantially unable to perform its duties relative to the presidential election and to timely mail delivery. Delays in mail processing from a predicted record vote-by-mail turnout may lead to voter disenfranchisement on a national scale. The Postal Service has alerted more than 9 out of every 10 states that processing delays could cause millions of ballots to arrive late.
