LWV encourages voters to utilize absentee ballots, which can be mailed EARLY or dropped off at your clerk’s designated dropbox site, in order to stay safe during the pandemic. Voters should be aware that polling places have been exempted from the Governor’s mask order and poll workers are not required to wear masks. We encourage you, if you do go to the polls, to wear a mask and use precautions.

LWVUS supports the US Postal Service and has joined the National Urban League, and Common Cause in filing a lawsuit against the Postmaster General and United States Postal Service asserting that recent changes to postal service procedures and equipment presents an undue burden on the fundamental right to vote, infringes on voters’ free speech rights, and violates the
Administrative Procedures Act (APA). Following a reversal announced by the Postmaster General, LWV stated “While we are pleased that the wide-scale disruptive changes made by the Postmaster General will temporarily cease, questions remain around how to make the United States Postal Service whole again—including restoring the deficiencies which these decisions caused in
the middle of a pandemic and just months before a national election. The agency must present a clear plan for how it will replace the discarded equipment, reverse the damage done, and restore the American public’s confidence in our postal system.”
