The Michigan State House passed HB4765, which would establish documentary proof of citizenship requirements for voter registration.

This represents another disinformation-fueled attempt to disenfranchise Michigan voters.  Michigan voters have overwhemingly chosen to protect and expand access to the ballot box, and this legislation is a direct violation of the Michigan Constitution.

League of Women Voters of Dearborn-Dearborn Heights

The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 by leaders of the women’s suffrage movement who believed in the power of women to create a more perfect democracy.

The League is proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, but always working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy.

An activist, grassroots organization, the League has been working for over 100 years to empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.
