TIME FRAME FOR REDISTRICTING

Feb. 28, 2022 Election Day-120

     (CA Education Code, section 5019)

CRITERIA APPLIED TO DRAWING DISTRICT LINES

  • Equal Population “As nearly as may be…same proportion”

  • Voting Rights Act - Silent on requirement to comply.

    (CA Education Code, section 5019.5)

HEARING & MAP REQUIREMENTS

Hearings - One public hearing is required. (CA Education Code, section 5019)

TIME FRAME FOR REDISTRICTING

No earlier than 21 days after the release of the census data by the Statewide Database. If next election is between January & June 2022, then no later than Election Day-174.

If next election is after July 1 2022, then no later than Election Day-205
