Our League's national headquarters has been a passionate and proactive force in spearheading the People Powered Fair Maps campaign, and their new blog series, "Redistricting Watch," is a great way to keep up-to-date on key issues in the redistricting fight across our nation. The National League will be showcasing a new blog post each week leading up to our PPFM Day of Action on April 29th -- I highly encourage you to bookmark the main blog page and check back each week for new posts from the LWVUS team and other guest writers.

This series is a great way to educate yourself on different aspects of the redistricting process, ranging from personal testimony, to the current legislation proposed that could positively affect the redistricting process at the federal, state, and local levels. Week 2's post is a great overview of the "For the People Act" (HR1 / S1) and the ripple effect it would have on redistricting legislation, and discusses the benefits of appointing independent commissions to draw district maps.

Ultimately, the Redistricting Watch series reminds us why we should educate ourselves so that we have a say in our redistricting process:

It’s really that simple: the more people who are aware of and informed about how redistricting is done, the more representative and inclusive our maps become.

Check out all three posts below, and stay tuned for more posts in this series from our National League!
