Every year the Providence League of Women Voters assists the Providence School Board Nominating Commission with running a forum for School Board candidates.

The League of Women Voters Providence serves the city of Providence and the surrounding area. It is one of the oldest Leagues in the country. It was chartered in 1919, very shortly after the League of Women Voters was created as a division of the National American Women Suffrage Association at the NAWSA convention in St. Louis, MO March 1919.

PROPOSITION 15 PUTS SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES FIRST

 

Position

The League of Women Voters of Moscow supports the establishment of an alternative school to serve dropouts, discouraged learners, non-traditional students and other at-risk youth, with the goal of teaching basic skills, vocational education and/or college preparation leading to the attainment of either a high school diploma or a GED.

Monitor and evaluate the TIF (Tax Increment Financing) and its impact on education funding, economic development and distribution of tax dollars to the community.

Continue monitoring current and proposed new methods of school financing with emphasis on the impact on schools in the H-F area.
