We actively oppose discriminatory voter photo ID laws, fight against attacks voter registration process and hold lawmakers accountable when they try to institute last-minute Election Day barriers. We work year-round to combat voter suppression through advocacy, grassroots organizing, legal action and public education.

Connecticut needs our own state-level Voting Rights Act because federal courts have drastically weakened the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965. In 2020, the Center for Public Integrity observed that Connecticut voters still face some of the biggest obstacles outside of southern states. Sign up by Thursday March 24 at 3PM to testify for the virtual public hearing to support SB 471 and two other bills that will protect and expand access to the ballot.

The bill does something that we have long needed, creating a no-excuse early voting period. However, it also does things that are threats to voter access and reasonable election administration.
