October 12, 2021 to October 22, 2021Our freedom to vote is under attack. With hundreds of bills aimed at restricting voting rights introduced in 49 states and enacted in 18 states this year, it is clear Congress must put a stop to this trend by restoring the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This historic legislation protected our right to vote for decades, until key provisions were overturned by two Supreme Court decisions in 2013 and 2021.
Last week, our Connecticut Senators joined with their colleagues to introduce the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (S. 4) to the Senate. The goal is to restore the gutted portions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. This bill MUST be a top priority of the Senate to ensure every eligible American has an equal opportunity to make their voice heard.
The US Senate is scheduled to return for legislative business on Monday, October 18, 2021.

Write or call both Senator Blumenthal and Senator Murphy with the following message and thank them for their efforts so far: "It doesn’t matter if we have bridges and budgets if our democracy fails: keep the Senate focused on the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act!"
