Save Time at the Polls

Sign up for an e-sample ballot at https://lavote.net/home/voting-elections/voting-options/e-sample-ballot. Downloading and filling out your sample ballot on your home computer, laptop, or cell phone is the best way to save time at a vote center near you. After making your selections, print your “poll pass” with QR code or save it on your cell phone. Helpful vote center staff will show you how to use your poll pass and quickly transfer your selections to the ballot-marking device to produce your paper ballot.

Make it a family affair! No matter where you live in L.A. County, you can all meet at the same vote center to cast your ballots.

If you vote by mail (VBM), you may want to drop off your ballot at a vote center to observe the operation. Consider surrendering your VBM ballot just this once, so you can be part of history as L.A. County chucks its old voting system!

SB 25 2018: Alternate Ballot Order in Effect

This L.A. County–only law allows the Registrar to reverse the order of precedence for certain offices and measures submitted to the voters. Your ballot will show the local contests—such as those for city council members—first, followed by district, then county, and so on, until you get to president. This is in effect for three years to see if this measure increases voter participation in local elections. Have fun wending your way through the ballot!

AB 48: The New Prop 13

Another measure on the ballot will be the “new Prop 13”—though it has nothing to do with the old one. Read more in “The New Prop 13: March 2020 State Ballot Measure” in this issue of the Voter.
