Dearborn-Dearborn Heights

The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 by leaders of the women’s suffrage movement who believed in the power of women to create a more perfect democracy.

The League is proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, but always working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy.

An activist, grassroots organization, the League has been working for over 100 years to empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.

If you still have your absentee ballot, you should return it ASAP! Before you do, remember to sign your ballot envelope with your official signature. You can return your absentee ballot to your city or township clerk’s office or satellite office, to a secure drop box in your city or township, or you can bring your completed absentee ballot to your early voting site or (if you live anywhere other than Detroit) to your polling place on Election Day (November 4) and feed it into a tabulator. After tomorrow, unless you’re serving in the military or living overseas, we no longer recommend returning your ballot by mail.
