We know that America is suffering from two public health crises right now: COVID-19 and gun violence. In this moment it is more important than ever that we take time to celebrate peacemakers in our community. Our Peace MVP Awards ceremony brings us together to honor lives touched by gun violence, spotlight the work of activists and peacemakers, and look towards a future that is safer for us all.
Please join us to honor Chaplain Clementina Chéry, Founder and President of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, for her decades-long work to interrupt cycles of violence and transform society's response to homicide. Many of us walk in the annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace to support the Institute. Let’s raise a glass and toast Tina virtually on Oct. 8th.
Rev. Irene Monroe of (W)GBH’s All Rev'd Up is our host—appointment listening for me when she appears on Boston Public Radio every Monday. Needham friends, you may recall Reverend Irene from our Yes on 3 event with Sarah McBride. And if her recent columns are any indication, Renée Graham, Associate Editor and Columnist for The Boston Globe, will deliver a rousing keynote. I am so excited to hear their inspiring words.
Help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 towards hiring a Community Organizer who will connect youth and communities most impacted by gun violence with leaders at the state and municipal levels. We believe that the work to end gun violence must center the voices of those who have been most affected. Join us and help make this position a reality.
Together we can work towards a future free from gun violence.
