The League of Women Voters of Roselle/Bloomingdale will host a Drinks & Dialog event for the public on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Wolfden Brewing located at 112 West Lake Street, in Bloomingdale. Light appetizers will be served and beverages will be for sale.
Our invited guests for the evening are Village are officials from Bloomingdale, Itasca and Roselle recently elected in the April 2021 Consolidated Election. We had also extended an invitation to Seth Lewis and Michelle Mussman, our Illinois State Representatives, but they are unable to attend due to the House session that has been added for that day. We will be discussing Home Rule which municipalities use to enhance local taxing powers, intergovernmental agreements, and rental inspection regulations. This part of our discussion will be facilitated by Dominick Lanzito, Partner with the law firm of Peterson, Johnson & Murray Chicago LLC. Currently, Bloomingdale has Home Rule, Itasca voters considered Home Rule but did not approve it and voters in Roselle will be considering it soon.
Drinks & Dialogue provides a casual atmosphere for people to share opinions and ideas, ask questions, and become more aware of local, state, and national issues and the options for making positive changes. It is also your chance to meet and get to know our state legislators and local officials.
