Date of Meeting: 5/25/2021

Format: In-person

Meeting Summary:

The results of the May 2021 primary were officially certified. 12,514 ballots were cast for an 11.63% turnout rate. The total number of registered voters was 107,632.

Machines were tested and it was confirmed the results were as expected.

No automatic recounts were required.

Post-Election Audits (a hand count of a sampling of ballots from a sample of precincts, the number of which are prescribed by the Secretary of State) are not required in off-year elections though a BOE has the option to conduct one. The board agreed with the Directors' recommendation that it was good business practice to conduct one for each election. The audit will begin on June 3, after the required five-day waiting period after an election is officially certified. Precincts to be audited were randomly selected by board members through a drawing.

A revised calendar for board meetings was distributed. Three meetings were canceled as there is no August election. Those meetings were specifically for that election.

Which members of the board/council were present: Denise L. Smith, Chair, Members: Randi Clites, Doria Daniels, Amanda Suffecool, Director, Faith Lyon and Deputy Director, Theresa Nielson
