Lifting as We Climb is the empowering story of African American women who refused to accept deep, exclusionary racial prejudices in the American suffrage movement.
Author Evette Dionne, a feminist culture writer, draws an important historical line from abolition to suffrage to civil rights to contemporary young activists. African American women had to deal with white abolitionist-suffragists who drew the line at sharing power with their Black sisters.
Join the discussion and Q and A with the author on October 20 at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom. A link will be forthcoming. (
