Who are the members?
Membership in the League of Women Voters, among the most respected and effective grassroots organizations in the country, is open to anyone 16 years and older.
Membership means...
You automatically become a member of LWV Ohio and LWV of the United States. You will receive their publications along with the online publications from LWV of the Akron Area.
How to Join/Renew
- Use the Donate button below to fill out the form for new or renewing memberships OR click here and follow the instructions to download and print the form to fill out and return with your payment by postal mail.

This video will walk you through how to join or renew your membership at LWV. It also shows how to access and use the member portal to update your profile information and view your past payments.

Membership Dues:
- Individual members: $75 per year is the recommended amount, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).
- You can add a second member ($150 total for both recommended, $40 for both minimum), but they each will need to provide a unique email address.
- Life members: In appreciation of their dedication to democracy, Life Members (members for more than 50 years) are exempt from membership dues.

Making Dues Payments
- The preferred payment option is a direct bank transfer (ACH transfer), which minimizes fees. You’ll need your financial institution's routing number and your account number.
- You also have the option to pay by credit or debit card.
- If you are not comfortable making payments online, see Pay Dues by Check for instructions.
- You will receive an online confirmation and an email receipt for your payment..
- Your membership dues payment will show up as three transactions on your account — one each to LWVAA, LWVO, and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of all three!
- Keep things simple by automatically renewing each year! Just select auto-renewal when you are paying your dues.
Making Donations
- You will have the option to make a direct donation to LWVAA when paying your dues, or you can donate directly to us on the Donate page on our website.
- All donations to LWVAA are NOT tax-deductible, whether made on the LWV Member Portal or directly from our site.
- Please note that your gift to the League of Women Voters, a 501(c)4 organization, is also NOT tax-deductible.
Because LWVAA conducts advocacy we are organized as a 501(c)(4), therefore dues are not tax-deductible. You can make a tax-deductible contribution through the LWVAA Education Fund.

- You will be sent an email with a verification code to enter the code into the form. (You do not need a password.)
